How Does Accreditation Work?

Âé¶¹´«Ã½ÍÅ¶Ó Tech is on the , which is a 10-year cycle for maintaining accreditation with HLC that is focused on quality assurance and institutional improvement. It includes:

  • Regular Monitoring
  • Annual Institutional Update reports
  • Reporting of any substantial changes (new programs or additional locations)
    • Years 4 & 10

What is a Comprehensive Evaluation?

Comprehensive evaluations include:

  • Assurance Review – Âé¶¹´«Ã½ÍÅ¶Ó Techwill submit an Assurance Argument and Evidence File to demonstrate compliance with HLC’s Criteria for Accreditation
  • Federal Compliance Review (10-year visit)
  • Student Opinion Survey – HLC will conduct an independent online survey of the institution’s student body two months prior to the on-site peer review to give students an opportunity to participate in the evaluation process
  • On-site Peer Review Visit – After reviewing the Assurance Review and student survey results, an HLC peer review team will develop a meeting schedule and spend approximately 1½ days on campus

What Happens After a Comprehensive Evaluation?

The peer review team will submit an final report of their findings for each criterion core component within 4-6 weeks from the visit. Âé¶¹´«Ã½ÍÅ¶Ó Techcan review this final report for errors of fact before the team submits it to HLC. The final team report and Âé¶¹´«Ã½ÍÅ¶Ó Techresponse to that report are then sent to HLC's Institutional Actions Council for review and a decision.
